Our Mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ
as we welcome and witness to all.
Our Beliefs
We join with Christians of all communions and times in confessing together the Apostles Creed:

We believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.
And in His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day He arose again from the dead; he ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Our History
First Methodist Church Pleasanton was founded in 1857. Rev. John Wesley DeVilbiss began holding services in the open air and in the homes of members. When the first courthouse, made of logs, was built, permission was granted the Methodists to hold meetings in this building. A few years later the first school building was erected and meetings and services were held there. In November 1858, Pleasanton was given its first resident pastor, Rev. Thomas B. Ferguson. Since then, First Methodist Church continued to grow with the completion of the Educational Building in 1957 and our Sanctuary in 1959. Our church continues to be an active presence in our community.
